STUDENT MATINEES

CONNECTING THE CLASSROOM TO THE STAGE

MCC’S STUDENT MATINEE PROGRAM

Our dynamic productions are meant to spark conversations that can be continued in the classroom. Whether touching on social topics or stories that are the core of our collective humanity, seeing a show at MCC is a great compliment to the scholastic curriculum and arts education experience.

We currently don’t have student matinees scheduled for fall 2024. For college or student group offerings please email education@mcctheater.org.

What should you know about STUDENT MATINEES?

  1. Every mainstage production has dedicated school matinees that are only open to students.
  2. New York City public high school groups of any size qualify for our subsidized student price of $10 per ticket. All other high school groups can reserve tickets at $25 per student.
  3. In the week leading up to a school matinee, any open seats are made available to college students with a valid school ID at $25 a ticket.
  4. Our Public Engagement & Education department provides a SHOW GUIDE for each production to prepare students for their visit. Each guide includes insight into the show, activities, and suggested prompts to jump-start the discussion before and after the show.
  5. School matinee performances are followed by a post-show discussion with the cast facilitated by our education team.

We are proud to offer our Subsidized Student Ticket Program for schools that would otherwise not be able to attend one of our productions. Fill out the online request form here.

MCC Subsidized Student Ticket Program

MCC wants to make theater accessible for New York City youth. Our ticket subsidy program endeavors to lessen or remove financial barriers to schools and students attending our theater. Through the generosity of our funders, we can offer ticket subsidies that greatly reduce ticket costs, for even more students this year! If you have any questions about this or any of our programs, email education@mcctheater.org.

MCC’s Education Programs are supported by the Axe-Houghton Foundation, The Emily Davie and Joseph S. Kornfeld Foundation, Harold J. Newman† & Ruth Newman, The Pinkerton Foundation, The Eric Rosedale Playwriting Fund, Tiger Baron Foundation, New York State Council on the Arts, and public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the city council.
